Luis Arciniega is numerary professor of Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management at ITAM School of Business in Mexico City. He earned his PhD. in Organizational Psychology from the University of Salamanca in Spain. His research focuses on the influence of work values and work ethic on job attitudes and behaviors. He is coauthor of the Work Values Scale (EVAT). Dr. Arciniega is past President of the International Society for the Study of Work and Organizational Values (ISSWOV).
Dr. Arciniega’s recent research has contributed to the development of a person-centered understanding of work ethic through the identification and replication of three recurring work ethic profiles: live to work, work to live, and work as a necessary evil, in diverse cultural contexts. His studies have demonstrated the structural stability and cross-cultural generalizability of these profiles on all five continents, while also examining how different work ethic profiles relate to objective performance indicators, organizational citizenship behaviors, and employee adaptation in contemporary workplaces.
His scientific production has been published in leading academic journals such as the Journal of Business Ethics, Human Resource Development Quarterly, Journal of Business and Psychology, The Leadership Quarterly, or the Journal of Applied Psychology, and presented at major international conferences. He has been visiting researcher at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and the University of Western Ontario in Canada. He is member of SIOP. He currently serves on the editorial boards of the academic journals: Human Performance, and the Journal of Business and Psychology.
Before entering academia full time, Dr. Arciniega worked for more than a decade as a human resource management practitioner at Grupo Televisa, one of the world’s largest media corporations, and has served as consultant and executive educator for multinational organizations.
